I am in much pain with back problems, and it hurts to type, so a short one today:

May 16th: Rave On.

Written and originally recorded by Buddy Holly, but the precise little gem I'm thinking of is the accappella one recorded by Steeleye Span, complete with bum notes and scratched record sounds. It was their first single, but it didn't reach the charts. A 'cleaned up' (ie no bum notes or scratch sounds) version has appeared on a number of folk compilation albums since. It is also one of my favourite mondegreens, as a friend used to believe it was called 'Ray Vaughn', and wondered why Buddy Holly was getting so excited about this apparantly random bloke. Going to lie down now. bye bye.
