...at least I thought it was thunder and lightning at first... until I realised that it was the firework show heralding the end of the "party in the city" which celebrates the music festival which starts today. Friends invited me to go along but sadly I am slaving away on page 43*.
I couldn't quite work out where the firework display was being held (but there must be several displays on the hills of the town - like Rome, don't you know - as I can hear more explosions in the distance as I write) but it was conveniently bang, slap in front of my study window. There is a house opposite but the fireworks were shooting up high enough for it not to obstruct my view.
They're so pretty, aren't they, when they explode like dandelion clocks...? There were others that looked like smoke rings and yet other shapes which happened so quickly it's difficult to remember exactly what they looked like. And such beautiful colours against the clear inky sky.
*Before you start feeling too sorry for me, I should mention that I haven't been slaving away solidly since I last posted. I stopped to dig the front garden for a while - but ended up having a long chat with a neighbour instead. One more page to go to complete today's quota....
