Just a couple of days ago I was moaning about missing my bank holiday because I had to translate a document about chocolate. [Orthodox Ian and Steve: I don't get free samples but I would happily pass them on if I did as I don't eat chocolate - and yes, the square, sporty variety is German. Pfefferminz preference has been noted.]
The next morning (yesterday) I found it more difficult than usual to drag myself out of bed as I had a headache. It took me a good hour to realise that this was no ordinary headache. I think it was a migraine as it later caused sickness and required me to languish in a darkened room. (I think I have only ever had a migraine once before).
In a usual day, my phone will ring about 0-1 times - most of my interaction takes place by e-mail. Yesterday as my head was pounding away, the phone rang about 15 times. I didn't answer it and I didn't have the energy to lever myself from my prostrate state to go and unplug it.
Today, by contrast, I have had the offer of two jobs, both of which have been put on hold, leaving me time to catch up on a few things I might have done on Monday, had it not been for the chocolate assignment.
All of which makes me wonder in a roundabout way: can you get a migraine from just writing about chocolate? Or is this a medical first?
