Return to day 1

I have just received a text message from friends based in two different parts of the country asking for prayer for 22 missionary families due to be beheaded today in Afghanistan.

After a quick glance at the internet, I haven't found any reports verifying this message - e.g. any Christian organisations involved with mission work  (other than finding posts on Twitter) so I don't know if it is true or not. There was a case a couple of years ago of there being (I think) 22 Korean Christians in fear of their lives in Afghanistan. It's possible it is an old message.

But I think if I were a missionary in Afghanistan I would rather people prayed something - anything - than just ignore it for fear of troubling God on the matter unnecessarily. After all. He will know if it is genuine. And a bit of extra prayer is unlikely to go amiss.

Nationals are officially allowed to convert to other faiths.

Modern communications are a wonder aren't they? Messages can zip around the world in the blink of an eye.
