Random impressions of Denmark - postcard no. 6

In no particular order:

I now know why many Danish women seem to have very short hairstyles. It is very windy and if you have hair like mine which is not long enough to tie up, you end up looking like a haystack pretty much all of the time.

I had no idea that I would be bitten to death by mosquitos.

Are the following names "normal" in Denmark? There seemed to be quite a few tradesmen's vans with Kenneth, Brian and Kevin on the side with Danish surnames - unless of course I kept seeing the same ones over and over.

Bicycles are everywhere. Unbelievable numbers of cycle hire shops which were full of them, they are parked outside stations and museums but you never seem to see their owners. It's a bit like the Pied Piper...all the cyclists have been enticed away leaving just their bikes as evidence that they ever existed. (No one locks their bike on Læsø.)

The English language is often accused of being hard because the written word bears little resemblance to the pronunciation. Blame the Danes. Their words bear even less resemblance to the pronunciation.

I heard the word Læsø spoken by natives at least 10 times and each time, just as I thought I'd got it, it was pronounced just a little differently.

German is more useful than English on Læsø.

I may add more random thoughts if I think of any....
