ELVIS soll Landtagsabgeordneten in Brandenburg die Arbeit erleichtern.

I read this in an on-line German newspaper. So it's true, Elvis is back. And he's on his way to help the members of the regional parliament in Brandenburg with their work. Not by singing to them but by helping them to have paperless offices. Elvis is actually the Elektronisches Landtagsvorgangsbearbeitungs- und Informationssystem*

The radio has been warbling about Elvis tribute programmes all day as today is the 30th anniversary of his death. As this blog has been obsessed with food so far, I decided to see if there were any recipes associated with Elvis. Of course! You can buy a recipe book written by his cook. Apparently his favourite munch was a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. I'm not sure if that means the peanut butter is fried or the entire sandwich, but either way, as the two main ingredients are pretty near the bottom of my list of things to eat, I shan't be trying it out. Elvis has had a pound cake named after him, which could be considered a little insulting as he was a little overweight when he died.

My culinary offering this evening was more in keeping with the tastes of the German ELVIS: frankfurters, sauerkraut and boiled potatoes. Lovely.

*Electronic regional parliament processing and information system**. The acronym wouldn't have quite the same snappy ring in English, methinks.

**I'd just like to point out before someone else does (!) that this is a word-for-word translation. The regional parliament is not electronic...but the processing and information system.
