Rotkäppchen revisited All the Better to Eat You With this week for the sole purpose of ABEYW checking that the brushing technique employed to excavate the Grand Tooth Canyon of all detritus would pass muster. ABEYW smiled his foxy grin and licked his lips in welcome as his assistant provided the trendy blue bib. Once in the chair of torture, Rotkäppchen was lowered into an almost horizontal position. A mirror was pressed into her left hand and a brush thrust into her right and orders were given to commence the painful task of squishing this brush, familiarly known as the Bog Brush, between a relatively small gap in her teeth. From a somewhat shaky start (the angles were all wrong here - how many people brush their teeth whilst lying down?) Rotkäppchen compensated for the latitude and praise was heaped upon her, the brush and the GTC.
ABEYW [in Kiwi accent]: That's great, you've really got the hang of this.
Rotkäppchen: Yahwa-blearch-wawa
ABEWY: Yes, in fact, I think we can move you up from Bog Brush to Yard Brush
Rotkäppchen: Yarrrrcchhh!
ABEYW: Oh don't worry, you'll soon get used....oh dear....Huh?
Rotkäppchen [struggling to get into sitting position - then spits and coughs.]
ABEYW: Well done, I thought you might be a goner there...
Voices off: Well, thanks for all the help proffered to our heroine. ABEYW was almost renamed All the Better to Choke You With - as the head and handle of the brush had parted company in Rotkäppchen's mouth and were about to embark on a journey down her oesophagus.
Rotkäppchen: (Red of hood and red of face). Sorry? You were saying something about Yard Brushes.
ABEYW: Yes. The next size up. Possibly even Street Cleaner's Brush. Well, good of you to drop in. I won't be needing to see you anymore.
With this news, Rotkäppchen, light of heart and light of pocket, skipped down the forest path, swinging her basket as she went. Hurrah! Hurrah! Who would have thought that a nifty bit of brushing was enough to keep the Wolf's attentions at bay? The sun came out, the bees buzzed merrily, the birds sang in the trees and rabbits hopped happily. Rotkäppchen returned to her cottage and lived happily ever after ....with an array of brushes rarely seen in the forest ever before.
The End.
