Is there a general atmosphere of over-excitedness or it is confined to my four walls?
No sooner had I written the post below than I started to translate a press release. It started positively with a little title about how this particular company had swept the board of awards in its particular area of expertise ...
(it is actually too depressing to tell you what that area is... I know people have to make a living but the things some people are required to get enthusiastic about are just too tedious to repeat)...
The text continued building up the excitement with words and phrases such as "eagerly anticipated" and "long-awaited". It then told the reader, sitting on the edge of his seat with breathlessness, that the company had won some of these "sought-after" awards and thanked all those who had been involved in nominating and voting for the company. I was beginning to look forward to finding out about their achievements until... I translated the sentence which talked about the exciting ceremony which took place on 29 November at 7.30 pm.
Huh? It IS 29 November and it is (or was at the time) 7.30 pm in Germany. It went on to say that "prizes were awarded in the following categories (information to follow after 29 November)". Someone seems pretty sure that they are going to win something.
Pre-Advent definitely seems to be the season of looking forward to looking forward.
