Happy New Year!

As so ably demonstrated in my previous post, my gentle readers will realise that they cannot rely on this blog to report from the cutting edge. And sadly, while the Wibsite was temporarily out of service*, two more notable events have passed by.

The first is my friend Heather's 7th birthday. Heather was born in 1980 but has only had 7 birthdays as she was born on 29 February. It helps her stay young - the same as Frederick, the buccaneer apprentice in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. He vowed to serve the Pirate King until his 21st birthday but, as someone pedantically pointed out, this meant he would have to serve a further sixty four years. I hope Heather manages to make sure that all official documents are worded to say "until her sixty-fifth year" or whatever age retirement is now set at! Belated happy birthday to Heather (who doesn't read this blog)!

The second anniversary is actually my third anniversary (are you following this?) of living in my current humble dwelling. I moved here on St. David's Day 2005 and I can't really believe that three years have already passed. Fittingly, some of the daffodils in my garden decided to burst into bloom to mark the day - I quaffed some wine at Heather's party - and had some friends round for a roast dinner today.

So, the beginning of a new year, or is that two new years, in a way.

*Many thanks to the techie types who know what to do to get the wheels of Wib turning again.
