I remembered with some shame yesterday when writing the date that it was my great aunt's birthday - and that I had forgotten. This lady is the aunt of the pa-rent which seems quite astonishing in itself. At Christmas, when speaking about my aunt in Ireland, my nine-year old niece said incredulously, "What? Pappa's got a SISTER?!!" I told her that Pappa, ancient though he was, had an auntie. My niece's face was a sight to behold.
Happy 98th birthday, Great (Great) Auntie Barbara!
