Spring is in the air

Today I had my lunch in my little back garden (wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops) where the sun was managing to warm the air to a pleasant 17 degrees C. The back garden is very sheltered in contrast to the front garden which is much shadier and windswept. It felt like a different country out there.

I was inspired to dig a few weeds out of their new homes, sweep up the leaves that have been chasing each other around for the past few months, hang out the laundry for the first time this year, give the wooden garden table its bi-annual teak oil treatment and admire the few pansies which have valiantly survived the winter. A bee buzzed busily on some important quest and, on going back inside, I found a fly throwing itself against the window in an attempt to escape.

I understand the forecast is for snow over the Easter weekend. Ah well, at least the back garden looks a bit tidier. I suppose you've guessed that it's been a slow work day today.
