There's far too many things on my mind and the past week has been a little too frantic for my fragile little brain to cope with. Which is a very simplified way of saying that I'm currently mid-drown rather than waving.... Some bad news left me kicked in the stomach on friday last, then more bad news on tuesday managed to find an unbruised spot and then five meetings (count 'em!) during the week, all of which adding new tasks to do although they weren't unpleasant meetings and were mainly with nice people I hasten to add but did serve to pull me away from many things that are stacking up on the lists that stand behind me ominously with deadlines shaped like axes.
None of which is to do with the book fest so here we go:
Website can be found here: http://www.guildfordbookfestival.co.uk
Authors on the night can be found here: http://www.guildfordbookfestival.co.uk/html/index.php
Which is an incomplete list (I'm not currently on it, unless I'm in small text) but shows the wealth of interesting names that are on the list over and above tiddly tiny forgettable guys like me. Personally I'm looking forward to the Phillip Ardagh day as much as any, his books being inventive and smart, although a little dark and bleak for my taste (although I'm mainly going on the Fall of Fergal trilogy here). Daughter and Wife are big fans as well so it looks like we'll be fighting over who gets to go to that one.
Haven't had the chance to scan through the book fest brochure (I've been in meetings all week and the majority haven't been in and around places that would have the booklets so we'll see if I'm in that in tiddley tiny small text as well :) but they are in and around Guildford I'm told (at the Tourist Information Centre for a start but copies should be filtering their way into the Library and other places through the week and should be sent in the post to the mailing list over this weekend as I understand it).
Very much hoping to have the night sign interpreted as well, which would be my wish, but we'll see. The DMCC (Dorothy Miles Cultural Centre, based, rather pleasingly for me at least, in Guildford as well and the people who organised the sign langauge course I was on last year) are putting out a call for help from me (well, the one about me needing terps anyhow) so we shall see. Watch a space that is likely to have info on it.
Sigh, roof leak at the arts centre as well... Loads to be doing and a battery warning icon flashing on the ibook so back later.
