OK, so last week was all sorts of everywhere, emotionally, geographically, metaphorically and .. um.. Sushiographically.
Holiday first although more on that when I can get the pictures smurged into the machine. had a flying break with family to Littlehampton, which I love, although sadly not to either the East Beach Cafe (which is my favourite place) or the West Beach Cafe, which I wanted to see what it was like. Sigh, maybe, as I said last time too, next time.
Still, had a lovely time with in-laws, nieces and tents. Rained a fair bit on day 1 which led to a pretty intense mood (BWAHAHAHAHHAHA) but days 2 an 3 were lovely and blisteringly hot. In my case doubly so as I forgot the suncream for an hour or so and am now red and uncomfortable.
Which leads me to:
Red.
So... A month or so ago the excellent iFanboy website (which I've been getting more and more into since the equally excellent Paul Cornell mentioned them in a blog post) hosted a competition for new writers and artists to enter. The theme was a new spin on an established fairy tale which, however you slice it, is an excellent idea.
From the first read through of the assignment I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do, even though as ever as always I knew it'd be a strange and sticky start. I wanted to do an update on Little Red Riding Hood which I expected more people to go with as there are obvious parallels and opportunity to go gross which, again and unfairly as it turned out, I anticipated people going for as a tone. For me I wanted to go detailed, especially artwork wise. You can catch the artwork I did here: www.ifanboy.com if you want to take a look see. I've got a couple of other jobs that take priority but once they're done I'm back onto this in a big way...
