Long time reader will know that I'm a big fan of Ready 4 Action - a three day social action project in the Guildford area.
Truth to tell last year had some teething troubles and was the first year that I did not outright love, let alone enjoy. It's an irony that I can talk about three days of gardening with any mention of the 'e' word but hey - its time spent with the youth group and I'm very fond of them.
This year however it's back and the team is as keen as ever. 30 or so of us will be participating which, bearing in mind the total R4A team last year was 300 shows how dedicated and committed the St P's kids are.
The thing we're doing differently this year is to decorate our t-shirts prior to the event. Various reasons, but mainly because the kids asked if we could so we said yes. That means the whole monty from pens to paints to printed t-shirt transfers and THAT requires a picture and that job I was voted on for. Cue a quick Q and A as to what we wanted on there (some submissions deemed inadmissible not through taste grounds but mainly because I didn't want to draw an army of orcs rampaging through a garden or anything) and after someone liked the phrase Holy Cats a cat was chosen. Finished this bumpily on the bus home last night and here it is. Enjoy.
Pix to follow R4A soon. Normal service resumes in a sec. Incidentally the book cover I did for the other summer book from Highland has been agreed so just need to add some finishing elements to it and that'll be uploaded in the next few days.
