God so loved the world part deux....

OK for the first time Pixelmator's let me down, which doesn't mean I like it less, just look forward to its future more, with the 2 m square image. After the umpteenth crash I had a dig around my applications folder and found that I'd already downloaded and installed Gimp and that came up trumps. Loaded, upscaled, oilified and then slight brightness contrast later it's just saving out now. This may be famous last words but it's handled everything else I've thrown at it so yay, well done the G. Must admit I do find the X11 handler offputting (sorry - and in a counter intuitive move I'd expected Gimp to require more resources because of its dependancy on the x11 shell (?) but in fact it was lighter and brighter...) and I don't like the interface as a whole of Gimp but, for free you can't argue. Again I'll keep more of a look on it as it progresses.

So, 7 meg JPG later (just finished saving, going to play with a graphics tablet now to see how it handles that) and then a small snooze I think. Superbowl tonight and, despite not really liking American Footie I'll watch it because... Dunno, I just seem to do it every year. Maybe this year I'll break the habit half way through we'll see.
