Yes, I still exist, yes I'm up to my eyelids in it all over again...
Premier thing went well, had lots of nice comments (thanks mum :) actually that said she hasn't heard it yet...) and all told was a pleasant few days following that. Since then I've been all over the place, mainly looking for jobs/producing artwork to show a proof of concept and looking after the kids while wifey supply teaches. all told I could be more rested.
Hmm anything else interesting to say? letters go off today to various librarian associations mentioning the book and I'm trying to get interest from two Christian newspapers sorted and also from one of the bookshops in Guildford. This is all slightly distracted by the fact that I've had Halo 2 since tuesday and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. is game time (and yes I'm aware that the blog has been quiet for exactly the same amount of time that I've had the game...) I havent been this caught on a game for yonks and I'm loving every second of it. Well, actually I say that, but the storyline has taken the most obvious turn imaginable and I'm sitting here grinding my teeth that they didn't do something a little unusual with the second third of the game. Apart from that one thing it's a huge work of imagination... I'm on the last level at the mo' and will be sad when I've finished it, although I'm looking forward to seeing how they resolve things, especially as there are rumours flying around that the developer Bungie had to chop the real ending of the game in order to make the release date.. So intrigued to see where things go as we aproach the finale. The graphic (wearing another hat now) are very nicely done in most cases...Theres a few glitches (when you look at your feet as you're walking, although thats a programmer issue) and quite a few questionable AI moments.. But Cortana looks fantastic, as do the environments.. Respect is due.
On a different subject, and back to the book for a sec was writing out some of the sequel yesterday and had a real 'yay I like that bit' moment. Which isn't to say I haven't had that at otehr points during the start of writing book 2... But sometimes I write something out on a piece of paper and the direction surprises me and I had one of those moments yesterday. I also had a meeting with the publisher the other day and when questioned about what the backbone of the story was he said 'wow you're brave to take that on'... I wasn't worried before he said that... Now I'm nervous :) Actually I was nervous beforehand.. Now I'm much more so.
Currently listening to: Plumb: Beautiful lumps of coal. Currently playing: Final level of Halo 2. Then its the long, long wait for Halo 3 I guess....
