Well its been a morning so far... First off kids, both of 'em, selpt in to 6.40 am. Which is unheard of in our house.. Normally its between 3 and 5 for the first and 6 for the second. As you can imagine five years of this has been harrowing.. Both wifey and I were shattered last night and asleep pretty much the same time as the kiddiwinks.
Actually there is a serious side to this.. Autistic kids (I'm told) generally need less sleep than others and have a swirling hurricane of energy that seems to sap that of others, notably parents. Any spelling mistakes that I make on this blog and in the books shall now be laid at this door rather than at the feet of my inability to spell Santa Claus(e) and differentiate between the words 'bought' and 'brought'.
In other tangental news: wifey passed her driving test this morning. Great rejoicing was had by all. Third test and, slightly foolishly, she questioned the fact that she'd passed at the end... Really? but I was worse than last time I think she said. Anyhow, yayness as another blogger might say in a better named blog than mine.
Also in a jam-packed half hour today: youth group yesterday sold 50 limited edition :P extra chapter booklets to raise money for the Christian Aid Christmas appeal. £80 was raised in total (the younger group baked biscuits) which is enough for a goat and a set of crutches or enough to feed two children in Brazil for a year. Next week we'll give 'em the choice of the catalogue (Christian Aid are doing a present catalogue with a differance this year.. you buy something for someone you dont know and the person you want a present for gets a card which says what you bought on on their behalf.. I'm purposefully not explaining that that well so that you all phone up Christian Aid to ask what the hooting heck I'm on about...)
But, as this blog is about ME and not THEM :P lets get onto the other tangents... I've been asked to sit on the board of trustees of the Christian Book Promotion board. Basically its an organisation that exists to promote Christian books into places that would not normally take them or research them in any depth. I'm hugely honoured to be asked, but worried because my book has been put on their shortlist this year and don't want this to be seen as a conflict of interest for anyone. Since my book was written with getting it into places that would not normally take Christian materials in I'm really hoping that my book will make the shortlist this year. However the idea of mentioning books for teens that they might not have on their list (and there's a few that I'm asking to be added, not least the Street Bible a book for which I've been a passionate advocate of since picking it up at Spring Harvest a year before last...If you havent checked it out it is WELL worth a look, as is the audio CD Street Bible Live). There's a few books that I haven't read and want to in order to suggest them on (I wouldn't suggest anything if I hadn't read it) so am in book reading mode for the next little while
Anything else? Hmmm can't think of anything for the mo and have to get some new 3d proof-of-concept stuff done so back to the grindstone...
Currently listening to: Delirious?: World Service in anticipation of seeing them live middle of Dec yay. Currently playing: at trying to be awake.. Did play the 'Prince of Persia: Sands of Time' demo last night in anticipation (lots of that going on at mo') of playing the 'Warrior Within' demo next week.
