Today is also the day that we say goodbye to an old friend... For the people that didn't know it the world changed last sunday at 10.15 am. Olive Rich left us, until we meet again.

Olive was a stalwart. She was an inspiration. 80 years old and still ran the CPAS collections for our church, the cleaning rota, headed the creche team and there was a lot she did behind the scenes. My children both loved her, as did a couple of generations of children from all over the estate. She was very polite, very forceful and left you IN NO DOUBT which cupboards the boxes went into when you offered to help tidy creche after the service. She was resiliant and she was powerful. She was a small old lady and yet she was a warrior. I would not have argued with Olive, for example, because I'm neither that brave or that foolish.

When I see piccies of Motehr Theresa, well, Olive had a very similar look visually and in terms of actions. When the call went round that she was in hospital people either went quiet or they cried. Her funeral is today and it is a service of thanksgiving. She was an incredible lady and the world did change last week, mainly because one corner of it went quiet, but we did that because the world changed through Olive's love and actions.
