Finishing the week up in the air...

So tonights youth group is going to be trickier than usual... Week before we had 35 kids and a huge explosion between one of the kids and his parents during the night... Last week we had 45 kids and a small leader crisis with one person walking out half way through for various reasons... This week who knows? The younger ones should all be at their valentines disco and the older ones had an inset day so may assume there is no group... However during the week (and haven't posted about this for various obvious reasons) a 16 year old well known to group members and the local schools died in a motorcycle accident... involving alcohol. 100 yards or so from my house.

Has been very upsetting for all concerned, group members, leaders and staff at the school alike and of course his family are devastated by what has happened.

This leads me to believe that tonights group may well be not the usual evening and I hope that we can as leaders make a difference for the kids who do come.

Seeming completely inconsequential to all of that have spent the last three days looking after Stephen (who was sent home from school with a fever and honest he was fit as a flea when we sent him) while wifey supply teaches. I'm absolutely shattered. Anyhow the plan is and was that wifey supply teaches and I do whatever freelance stuff I can do and write book two.. At the mo too tired to think let alone pick up a pencil! Hopefully a weekend of rest is forthcoming... Picked up the pace of book 2 recently as well as been re-promoting book 1 on the strength (both in terms of what was said and the remotivating flavour of it) of the Christian Herald review (you did all see that? Hope so. Was a corker...). This is where I'm left in the air this week... Apart from not knowing whats to come tonight I've sent out a new review copy to someone I respect, have a sort of assurance from a group that I love and respect that they'll try and read it and have had an email saying someone that I like, love and respect :) is due to read it now... That and the fact that I'm waiting on two festivals to get back to me about speaking there this year, have an email going out to all of the deaf and deaf unit specialist schools going out soon (and there's LOADS of them! wow... trying hard to make it not look like spam, although actually it sort of is, but I asked a couple and they said they wouldn't mind, considering the context of the information being sent)...also got another mag review coming up, although the news of that was tempered by the fact that another mag I was chasing said 'no review' for reasons of their own (yes they do review fiction, yes they do things aimed at all ages, no they won't consider doing a review... Ah well, but was dissapointed).

Anyhow, hope you're all OK out there in tangent text land, me I'm flying in circles dodging missiles of dream filled expectation...! signing off to start mulling over youth group tonight.

Currently listening to: Larry Norman: Breathe in Breathe out.Currently playing: Wario Ware GBA primarily atm. And how the hooting heck do you do Jimmys Bounce game?
