Kettled...

... and other disasters.

So the kettle went up the swanney, dead, a 'was kettle'.

Some things I can stands, puts up with etc. However a kettle that doesnt boil and thus supply me with hot water is tantamount to kitchen based treason.

So wifey and I went out to replace said metalised useless object and similarly kaput microwave. Thats where the kettle based disasters began.

Bought a travel kettle to begin with. small, dinky, used a lower voltage and since the coffee is only for me seemed a good use of the worlds resources.

Sadly it left a faint plasticy smell in each and every cuppa and the lid was a pig on sticks to open.

Strike one.

So went out and bought a different kettle. Metal this time, small still, medium voltage. On sale. All in all seemed perfect.

Except that it has a mouth so wide it makes Julia Roberts look likle a puckered up small mouth. I'm talking serious width on the spout of this thing, which means that even in the dying throws of caffeine deprived coffee making (it happens, honest) if you don't pour with CONSUMATE care the water goes everywhere.

I mean WHY? It's akin to the on off switch on the inside of our fridge for the light, which is similarly ludicrous. (Didn't read the small print there 'includes on off switch for the light in case.. ' in case what? you want to read a novel while sitting in the fridge?* who the hooting heck thought of putting a courtesy light in a fridge???

*note to readers, sitting in fridge reading a novel, with or without a courtesy light is not advisable in any way whatsoever. Don't do it kids Ho'kay?)

Strike 2.

Anyhow, stuck at strike two. Can't be seen to be going out to buy more than two kettles in a week so stuck with the unplugged dam for a kettle. Worrying, we shall see where this takes us.

Anyhow also traded in a few games in Game for the first new computer game I've had in almost a year, more in fact. Sadly again events conspired against me and they put the wrong disc in. Not a bad game to play by mistake all told, but had been looking forward to the game I'd gone in for in a big way.

Anyhow, had a nice church service this morning with the very cool group of kids in our sunday teen side of things, so lovely things happening also. The kids in our group are ace and I really should talk about them sometime soon.

May well be at the London Book Fair tomorrow (publishers asked me if I'm going so might join him, mainly to try and sell on wifeys stuff though) and while I'm on the subject shall be at Spring Harvest week 2/1 (whichever way you're looking at it) Skeggy, March 26 - 31 is anyone's interested and similarly Springy-ing.

Currently listening to: Alice Cooper: Schools Out. Classic. Alma mater gets me every time and Gutter Cats Vs The Jets is BY FAR the best rock/opera/story driven song ever. In fact every song on the CD is a doozy and no mistaking.Currently playing: Otogi 2, but not by choice as it were. Oddworld HOPEFULLY tomorrow.Currently reading: 'Time stops for no mouse' by Micheal Hoeye which is utterly charming so far. The names of the characters are amazing. Linka Perflinger indeed :) :)
