OK so R4A is over for another year. Mixed feelings as ever... Some I'll mention, some I'll keep silent on (because I'm a positive kind of guy :) )
My main mixed feelings are that it was ace and it's sad to see it end of coure. Then there's the huge well of tiredness and the sadness to see come new friends wave goodbye and sail off into the sunset.
My main sad feeling comes from one accident, which led to an unresolved dispute. My team had finished a garden (yay team!) and I'd taken a new team over the road to do litter picking. Then, when I got back I was asked to look after a group of ten kids from the estate and a few onlookers who were playing football. Tbh it's no fun watching, so I joined in. Was fun. However... One ball I chased took a bad bounce and I ended up accidentally running into the keeper of the opposing team, , a kid of about 12 or so, mainly because I was too tired to stop myself...Wasn't a bad tackle, in fact in the scheme of the game in was innocuous, and I ended up hurting myself making sure that I missed him but still he was in a foul mood with me thereafter and shot me a few foul looks. This is despite the fact that I'd broken up a fight that someone else had started on him and for the rest of the game, prior and after, had made sure that any shot from me was either away from him or softly taken.
Anyhow was really gutted, apologised a few times but all to no avail.
So anyway, apart from that one bit of sadness the team (yay team) and I managed to knock off one huge garden, trees, concrete coal bunker and all, litter pick a huge stretch of forest land that had an amazing amount of plastic coke bottles and broken bottles in and played football (sigh). We worked solidly for three days and basically I'm now looking forward to the next one...
