Ok so following son boys sick bug last week now it's daughters turn. So for the second time I was standing holding my hands out while wifey ran for a bucket... Fun.
Anyhow.. updates bit sparse on the ground subsequently. Was due to be going to a mates house today but had to cancel. Was up until midnight last night (well, 1 am by the time I got home) helping friends from our church move into their new house. If anyone heard a little more noise than we intended to make in Cedar way we can only apologise...
Hmm what else. Nearly finalised logos for comic company went off yesterday, still waiting to hear feedback, um... Writing at the mo, gotten to the end of the second act in Dr Sylver 2. While we're on the subject had a lovely review in via email from Debs from the Talking Hands Fellowship in London. It was a lengthy comment :) with constructive criticism and pointers to things that worked. This is the bit I was most pleased with:
...finally, the young deaf girl is quite exceptional. She signs and writes well. I liked the balance you were able to achieve when you actually showed her being mocked by her class mates, excluded, persecuted and rejected by the teacher who refused to face her to talk to her. This frustration is experienced a lot by many deaf people; by those who sign and don't sign. Also, I liked to see the positive action of the School of teach sign language in order to welcome her into the School. And the fact that hearing and deaf people can work together, they just require patience and love. Well done
Bearing in mind that came from someone with a wealth of experience with dealing with deaf people, sign and not sign, that made me smile very much indeed. Thanks for getting back to me Debs. Today I think I'm going to try and get this mythical mailer out to the deaf schools about the book and then.. Hmmm...But more writing I think.
