Incident report....

So tonight has been interesting in a lot of ways.. Where to start where to start...?

Chapter 23 is now going well, after a few days of hair tearing out being done. The problem is.. well, I'll get to that some time.

Went to youth group in what can only be described as a bit of a foul mood. Son boy had been acting up and the mood had caught so I was not in th emost edified of places when I started setting up for youth group.

This is where the incident report starts. I thought if i had to sit up and write it then I' dat least try to make it interesting and if I was going to do that I'd do that here, because I try and make this interesting too...

So group's started and we're doing the normal, footie in one room, singstar in another, crafts and ping pong in the third. We're probably all praying like mad, as leaders, because one kid has joined us after the tragic death of her father this past week. She's not on the books for group (we have a closed book because the group was just growing way too big) but there's no way we were not going to let her in. Hope and pray we helped in some way.

Anyhow one of the little kids, bless him, opens a fire door and lets 8 older teens, who are not allowed in, in. Cue Benny Hill style chase as we try and encouage them to leave. Same, or possibly other, younger kid, bless him also, opens another fire door and again there's the chase. Cue very stern words being said to the possible door openers and very stern words being said to the gang outside, although in each case we are honest and say we have no wish or desire to call the police, and will only do so if we need to. That is their last warning though and after that we will need to. See a couple of adults coming to the doors and think, yeah, this is just my evening isn't it?

Possibly a good time to say that we are also one leader down, although still one over the legal requirement (four adults plus one responsible teen rather than the one extra adult we normally have). Two leaders have gone to the Delirious? gig in Horsham, which I really wanted to go to, although my fire for them has waned somewhat recently, which is unfair and a long story, but really wanted to go - they were doing new material as well I believe, but couldn't etc. One poss leader is away at a grans funeral (and do hope that went well incidentally if you're reading K), another has had a tough week at school teaching, another is looking after kid alone as wife is off on a bridesmaid weekend thing, another is at the Oval etc.

So we're one down, and I'm not in the mood for this and then someone's walking up and he's not an insubstantial person, shaven headed, goatee beard, black t-shirt with heavy metal design on and I'm getting ready for one more argument than I need for the night and he knocks on the door and I open it and he says 'I've just told the kids to go away' I'm paraphrasing here, although I can't remember the words he used tbh '`cos it makes me really angry seeing them muck about with your group'.

I mean how cool is that, that someone from the surrounding area has noticed what we do and is supportive, verbally so, in a moment of need for us. Was really pleased, huge encouragement.

Had two of them in the past couple of days in fact, that and an email from a friend which came at exactly the right moment. Has been a tough week for one reason or another and had prayed for an encouragement because some times it's tough... Within days it's been answered and the incident report is up to remind me of that. Of course there were negatives to the night, I wasn't best pleased to be turfing older kids out of the group who were hiding in all sorts of rooms and deliberatley leaving windows open so they could revisit at a later time... But silver linings and all that, and encouragements and all that...

Two out of three freelance jobs have now been pretty much accepted now, and I think I can post them soon... Anything else? Can't remember, time to sleep, almost.

'Night.
