Myth of Demons.

So yonks ago I took four games to Game and did the trade in offer for Oddworld. Readers with snare like memories might remember they bodged and put Otogi 2 in the box instead. Played it for a day, liked it loads, took it back and got Oddworld, which was one of the top game experiences of the year for me.

Anyhow: someone on the mintynet was selling the original for a couple of quid so I thought... why not, let's check it out. It arrived this morning and I played twenty minutes over lunch (as much of a break as I would allow myself, and I'm currently writing this whilst printing out new sheets of the book to edit).

So anyway it arrives and it's not just called Otigi but Otogi: the myth of demons. Now personally I tend to steer slightly clear of such stuff because it's going to be focusing on characters from a standpoint that I would be unhappy with, but there you go, it's here. And surprised was I when I loaded the game up to find the most calm and refreshing of intro's, delicate music placed upon a vivid and beautiful art style. The game is simplistic in ways yet well done from start screen to end and, for a start, I can't think of a game where the hero appears in a shower of rose petals. Have to finish the draft of the book I'm doing by friday eve (although ssshh it'll probably be monday morning now) so can't imagine when I'm going to have an hour to sit and play again... But I'm amazed that I could say to myself words along the lines of 'think I'll relax into' anything similar... There you go, lifes a surprise.

Righto print is finished, off to do some more editing. so far I'm on page 50 of 144 (I do two sides of paper back format text per sheet) and the changes are beginning to be primarily structural in format now, just looking at balance, although I'm aware of one small inconsistencey which I'm very temtped to leave in to see whether anyone's noticed...

Currently listening to: House of Heros: House of Heros. Currently playing: Otogi. SURPRISE...... Dr Sylver chapter title of the week...: Chapter 10: Same old room, just totally different.
