OK, this Tuesday sees the first UK iTunes release from Delirious?, and, I'm told, the first UK Christian release available on iTunes. So that's something worth mentioning and talking about, right? Had passed the postcards on to people in my youthgroup, had mentioned it already to people, then an email arrived asking if I'd review it for the webpage. Cool, thought I, and here we go... Paint The Town Red.

Brief history from the Deli website; Stu G writes:

"Martin and Tim were invited to hear the great evangelist Reinhard Bonnke speak. One thing he said that stuck with them was "we're gonna paint this world red with the blood of Jesus." Martin scribbled this down and a few weeks later he had the bulk of the song written. Urgent lyrics need urgent music and so I went away and brought back a verse vibe that's forceful and definitely means business. A fitting anthem for this 'army of God that is ready to die.'"

Tbh I can't add much to that (please don't the world shouts). PTTR is a driving sound, wonderfully urgent and toe tapping. Can't wait to see it live (yeah yeah Alun, Thom and all, I know you've been there first). It's short I will say, which comes from my first reaction that I never wanted the song to end but, like Anthrax's 'Ticking in my head' cover the urgency lights and flames instantly, six minutes would be too long, no matter what I'd ask for.

There's a link, which I'm adding at the bottom of this update, because I do believe it's something to support. Please do think about downloading the track, not because we're talking money here, but we're talking about ringing a mission bell in the download charts and in the music industry and in the world. From the darkened corners we want to see the town painted red, we want to move people away from black and into a deeper colour that speaks of the intensity and urgency and immensity of God's love for us... And this tune, more than any I can think of at the moment, is the most fitting soundtrack to it. Go for it, even if you're an iTune virgin, because lets face it, we do want to see the town painted red don't we?

This isn't Delirious? 2 of 2 post incidentally... That's to come, when I have the chance to actually hear the new cd (see the research post below)... I will say, preempting myself, that the cover is fantastic and I look forawd to seeing how it ties into the inner notes and the rest. Loved that, and the covers are an important part of any D? cd as I mentioned earlier... The songs? Well, I'd only heard four of them before had a slight aural accident but they were very cool indeed. Looking forward to hearing more and passing it on.
