Weird week...

Having a bit of one at the moment... Normal lunacy continues apace, getting faster by the minute and Christmas approaches fast on the inside straight. Cards (I draw five cards each year, scan them in and print them out, so sort of kind of hand made-ish) are yet to be designed which is somewhat of a worry.

Am aiming to do a Dr Sylver Christmas booklet as we did last year (youth group and I printed out 100 copies of a specially written Christmas story starring Dr Sylver, following on from book 1) and then sold them and raised a good amount for Christian Aid which was nice... So, want to do that again this year and planning that now.

Then there's the book itself. Tidied it up loads in the past three weeks and now really excited to see what people think. Feb can't come quick enough in ways.... Although that said terrified about what the reaction will be... But anyway, work continues apace but at the moment it's more me typing in the final round of changes rather than any changes to narrative structure.

However the oddness that's now come up is that I've been asked to teach one day a week at a large college. They have a group of graphic design students who need somewhat of an additional boost for the rest of their year and somehow my names become associated with it. In ways I'm looking forward to it, in others ways terrified about what I'm letting myself in for.

Aaaargh in fact.

Anyhow, business factor has now increased by 20%, and I was in the danger levels as it was, but there you go, needs must and all that. May well be very interesting. Apparently I was good enough in the interviews to get it for a start, so the college must believe that I'm able to get stuff sorted. But I look at the week on paper and wonder why on earth I think I have enough free time to add to the workload...

Hmm not sounding too convinced.

Anyhow, also on my list of things to do and get done: Now that Book 2 is finished and press copies should go out in the next week or so I'm trying to refine a list of people I'm asking the publisher to send copies out to... It's a rough process, he suggests people, I suggest and then we send out some to however many we can get addresses for etc... This year I think that, critical reaction wise, I could aim to go out from the church based media somewhat, love 'em tho I do, so my main stipulation is that if we send one out to a Christian recipient (say: the Christian Herald) we have to send one out to a non-religious source (say: the NDCS). And so on.

So with that in mind I have a list of people I aim to get the book sent out to hopefully quite soon, but if anyone out there in Mintynet land have any wise and audacious suggestions I'm all ears (under all of the hair obviously). please do suggest away and I'll see what I can persuade the publisher into. Ironically the first book was... Christian but not in a banging a big drum sort of way yet we sent it to less mainstream reviewable arenas. This time the sequel is a lot more communicative of the journey that the kids are on and yet I'm aiming more mainstream... Brave and foolhardy probably. 30-70 split no doubt. Any genius suggestions please let me know.
