Dr Sylver and the...

...OK so just back from a long youth work session, training this time, and enjoyed it muchos. One thing it reinforced in me was the knowledge that a: my way of dealing with actions is not always the best way and b: I have a whole heck of a lot to learn. One person at the session there was the most modest, wonderful person, constantly saying that she didn't know what to say in a given situation before coming up with a suggestion that perfectly worked each and every time. Whereas I'm sitting there wallowing in the fact that I have an answer for most questions and most of the group ask me first what we could do 'cos I've been doing groups for years and years... Hmm. Don't think I was too egotistical during the session, hope not, but am aware that I was enjoying the position of old hand too much when someone else was unassumingly putting across there view and teaching me that when alls said and done it's about what you bring to it rather than sitting there preening.

Also thought I'd mention a youth group 'incident' last night... I was at one end of the hall, Kev at the other. He asked for the stage cupboard key so I threw it. A little to high. Of all the places it could land it caught in the rafters above the hall somehow (I mean how?) and much hilarity was had by all at my expence.

Sigh.

Hmm which, the title may suggest, wasn't what I was going to say. What I was going to mention was that following a meeting with the publisher I can finally say that Dr Sylver and the Repository of the Past will be out next February, almost certainly (depending on print windows) on friday the 17th. Nice to be able to pass on the title at last... It was the one I've been hoping for for a while, the publisher favouring another, but finally we came to an agreement and now the title can start to move away from my computer onto others. On the list now: website, finishing book cover, finalising the last draft, seeking endorsements and much much more, but good to have another tick on the list.
