Cometh the postman.

I like it when I get nice post. Doesn't happen that often nowadays, or at least as often as I'd like :~) And I'm not talking about a steady stream of ebay parcels or anything like that but letters from friends or postcards from colleagues or stuff... Mostly the post is that sort of letter, you know, the ones that have 'important information enclosed!' before they find themselves ripped into small pieces before being put into the pre-pay envelope to be returned to sender... Therapeutic, but doesn't endear me towards checking the doormat first thing in the morning.

Today, however, was different. Firstly I got a parcel, woo-hoo! From a competition I entered I won a signed copy of the Alison Moyet: One Blue Voice DVD. “With much love” it says. Not a smidgeon. Not a tad. Not a sliver. MUCH. Yee hah. Was muchos pleased. Can't wait to sit down, relax, and watch the disc play away and sooth my troubled ears... I probably don't need to tell you how good she is, do I? Nor how much of a revelation her last two cd's have been with their chilled out, jazz pop fusion and still the very finest lyrics you can wrap your brain around? Nor do I need to mention how much of a sales success it has all been for Sanctuary with Hometime hitting the high charts and getting a Brit nomination, Voice hitting the charts at no 7 and getting all sorts of critical praise all over the place and the DVD not hitting the charts because everywhere sold out of the initial shipment... Play, CD_Wow et al all sold out in the first week and had to restock straight way in the hundreds or copies, such was the unexpected success.... I don't need to say all that so on to the next paragraph of blah:

Then there was a copy of MCV computer games trade magazine. Long time reader, enjoyed it waaay back when, although then there was a mag called CTW and it came along to challenge the dominance of that mag and ended up replacing it. So anyhow, fond of it I am. Last week they printed a piece which discussed computer games violence which, for once, I appreciated the content of in terms of saying things that were away from the standard industry response of 'there's no problem, we're not at all to blame'. So I wrote in a reply. Well, I wrote in two replies. One was a 250 word letter and the other a 500 word comment piece. I said they could use either and let me know which way round they went. They used the comment piece, which was ace, very pleasing to see :)

So, this month I've had that printed in MCV, four pages in Porpoise comic ( www,porpoiseonline.co.uk/porpoise.htm apparently), and something else... Hmm do I say or do I no?

No, not for the mo'. Shall get in touch later about it, but there's one more thing that I'm hugely excited about that I'll mention in the next few days or so. Until then, then. Toodles.
