Monday gone, more to come...

OK so that's the one hour long BBC Southern Counties Kercal special done and dusted... I really enjoyed myself, bar the getting up at 6am bit. Time seemed to speed by and some of the things I wanted to speak about got lost in the spontaneous chat that occured on the fly.

For example, the news pieces: I wanted to mention four stories: The teenage self esteem piece in the Sun, another story in the Sun about Dalek Porn (big sigh there...), two pieces in the Voice (which was the paper I enjoyed reading the most out of all of them) and an article in the Daily Mail from a voluntary youth worker on a London council estate. Was a very powerful story and I'd encourage people to try and have a read if they can. Shall try and get some details later (went straight from the studio to my house to pick up some paperwork to Woking to a meeting then shall be back on a bus to go to Guildford College and then back to Woking later. Busy bumble bee, me, today. Spending the majority of the day out at various places from 7 am to around 10 pm.)

Hmmmm apart from that? Was interesting that the people at the radio station, all non-gamers, used Xbox as the adjective to describe the computer games scene, whereas once it wouldhave been something more akin to the Playstation Generation. That was something that I may well come back to write about sometime in the future. Apart from that, since I was chatting off of the top of my head for the majority of the time I was there, I did accidentally lay down somewhat of a challenge to myself and others concerning the Dr Sylver pamphlet that'll be released via Highland this Christmas. As you may well know there'll be a 12 page Christmas special coming out in the next couple of weeks containing some ALL NEW artwork :) a four page segment of Dr Sylver 2 and the Dr Sylver and the Notivity story from last year... Highland is aiming to print about 3000 copies and to send out the majority of these to bookstores in the UK and beyond.

However... That gives me a wodge of the things to sell via youth groups in Guildford. Last year we sold 100 in pretty quick time and made over £100 I think (can't remember last weekend let alone a year ago) for the Christian Aid present aid doo dah (check out www.christianaid.org.uk and www.presentaid.org for more details). This year I REALLY want to do the same thing again, but on a slightly larger scale. Foolishly I said that I would love to see the kids all team up, get donations for all the pamphlets and collect enough money to fix up a derelict school in (for example) Angola.... That, to me, would be the coolest Christmas thing ever and far more worthwhile than my words could ever be. So anyway, gauntlet thrown down I think we'll not get there but that we'll get some pretty fantastic things sent out instead. But we'll see. Anyhow, printable files went to publisher last night at 10pm and, so far, I've heard no issues on typos or the like so hopefully I'll have more news to share on it in the not too distant future...

Had a lovely meet up on saturday with a friend and ran some stories and plotlines by her. Was ace and much appreciated. Loads to be getting back to now (so much work needs to be sorted from the college to the youth arts centre, the big book (aargh!! so very late) to lots of letters needing sending out. Hope you're all well out there, chat laters.
