Not much time... Not much time....

I always feel like the White Rabbit at the moment, running from one appointment to another shouting I'm late I'm late... Today has seen me in a loooooong meeting concerning time sheets for the staff at the arts centre (joy) then back to send some more copies of the book out before youth group tonight. If you'd asked me last night how I was feeling I'd have said shattered (well, I had been working most of the day and listened to 6 youth bands interviewing for a place on the upcoming Uproar concert in Woking. Incidentally that was loads of fun, but a very mentally active four hours or so... Prior to that was a meeting/buffet lunch at Diocese House where I walked out with another job, a very intriguing one I must admit, more on that later and prior to that was two hours of sign language learning which, while something I love more every time I do it, leaves my brain feeling like a jellyfish that's been used as a temporary bridge for an army of heavy footed elephants from the town of Stampesville.)

Then, and what a difference two sentences make, Phil Groom from The London School of Theology Books and Resources/Christian Marketplace and www.christianbookshops.org.uk came back to me with the first response to the review copies of Dr Sylver book 2 that I sent out. Long term readers (Hi Mu... sorry, I always say that you say? OK. Ironically enough my mum doesn't read the blog, funny that) anyhow, long term reader ( :) ) will know that I'm feeling a certain trepidation as book 2 gets to the printing stage. Looking forward to comments as ever, but terrified of what they'll be. So step up PG with the following:

"A superb sequel that's every bit as powerful as Dr Sylver and the Library of Everything - well worth the wait. Kercal's a writer who's clearly in touch with where teenagers are at: don't miss it!"

...and suddenly I'm moved around from grumpbag to cheerful in the space of a couple of dozen words.... Odd that.

Anyhow, yes. First review in: that was it. Back to work now I'm afraid, have to do lots of staff rotas, a QAM sheet, an email out to the musician youth arts workers, a couple of evaluation times to set up, nagging kids for materials for my foundation training and on and on and etc. and repeat to fade....

But I'm smiling as I do it, which is a huge improvement on yesterday I can tell you.

Currently listening to: Steve: Falling Down. STILL a top, top cd from one of the coolest Christian live acts in the UK. Currently playing: Time juggling. Try it. It's... well, not fun, but stretches the brain I guess. Current socks being worn: Med Blue Donald Duck two tone blue classic socks. One of my three favourite pairs at the moment. Currently prayer request: A certain Christian band that I'm more than fond of are recording at the moment... Please pray that they'll have the energy, the enthusiasm and the ability to create something that moves us and them.
