So that was a very long day, mostly fun, a couple of road bumps.

Getting a room to stay in was a pickle, made a large number of calls before I found somewhere (the Adelaide hotel just off the seafront... Very pleasant indeed and a fantata cooked brekkie). Very hot when I arrived and the train seemed to capture and funnel the heat around the carriage I sat in. But as ever the hourney between Guildford and Brighton is lovely (I worked in Hove for a year oooh six years ago? and did that journey ever morning, early, like from 6.30 to 9 so that was a looong working day that was) and the scenery, especially the Surrey Hills between Guildford and Dorking and Gatwick are lovely.

Walked to the B and B when I got there, only getting marginally lost, which is good for me, and sat down. Big mistake, couldn't move, too tired so any plans to have an hours mooch around and see some of my old haunts went by the weyside. In the end, after watching the football until extra time I went out for a short walk and found a fascinating French chapel and a pub called the Regency Tavern. The former was shut, but would have loved to see the inside and the latter was open and decided that I'd have a brief drink. The choice inside was pretty varied and the ambience and look of the place was fascinating. In the end I plumped for Oranjeboom (it's a lager not a tune) which ticked off one thing in my life that wasn't neccessarily something I was worried about missing but was interesting nontheless. (For the record they had Leffe on tap and tbh I would have preferred that but was determined to only stay out for half an hour before catching some shut eye before the early morning start).

In the studio at 7, chatting with the producer and then on the air. Had decided not to micromanage what I was going to try and say but instead, with the exception of a couple of specific points I just went in and chatted. Hope it worked out well , I always forget what I've said as the nerves and the adrenaleine wash away. Did get a nice and encouraging txt message after, which was a surprise and made me smile for a good long while. Arrived home at 3 so all told it was a pretty long day, end to end, fun though. Main road bump was my next door neighbour at the hotel being somewhat noisey at midnight and then at 3am. Nice. I avoided the temptation to be equally noisey at 6.15 and was as quiet as I could be instead.

Hope it worked out ok anyway.
