Been a while since I blogged so just picking up the pieces before going out to three meetings back to back to bore.. (only kidding if you're actually doing one of the meetings I'm going to, I love you all dearly).
So: Passed the sign language level 1 and deaf culture level 1 exams yay. Certificates unadorning wallspace as yet but who knows. Also been accepted as an arts awards evaluator as well and hopefully big and cool things will come out of the arts centre from both of these things. That would be a nice thing certainly.
Had a youth leaders meet last night, was nice to see everyone in teh same room at the same time but for me the meeting was less fun than I hoped it might be. We were discussing the summer school just gone and I was surprised to find the team split into best working experience ever and worst working experience ever so a twenty minute whiteboard listing of the positives and negatives turned out a lot less encouraging and simple than I thought it would be. Left feeling very deflated.
What else? September sees a lot of new initiatives, new ways of working that I have to adhere to, new all sorts of all sorts. Then October brings in the Big Book Draw, November sees a teen band Christmas carol competition and December sees the completion of a few events, terms and the rest. My life is mapped out into small, almost unmanagable chunks. Micromanaged to the nth ulcer.
So, as you can probably see: holiday mood has cratered on impact with working week: the return of. Did have a couple of ideas that I would love to chase down during the holida, very much looking forward to one of them, the start of the second trilogy which has a: an ace high concept and b: a couple of very meaty twists... It also starts a little bloodily, something which wifey was initially sceptical of and has probably not been won over yet, and probably will not be any time soon. I do know that she's going to cry at one point in the book and probably wince at several others. Don't know why it starts as it does but with the content that it delas with it could probably do no other. Wrote the end of it in my mind the other day and can't wait to get there... Also wrote the synopsis of a completely different tale for me, sort of kind of a messed up love story which came to me in one of those sleepy half hours when you're trying to get to sleep but can't.
Apart from that? Chasing down emails/quotes etc for the next couple of days I think. Need to get something sorted out for the book festival, very demotivating and dispiriting though, looking at lists and knowing that instead of ticks it's 'try again later' for most of the things written down. Also have to go through the funding thing again for the Big Book Draw stuff, that'll be fun. Sigh.
OK distractedness over, time to start the day.... Whoosh.
