Chinese Elvis

We went to see an hilarious* play last night: Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis. It involves a dominatrix who is turning 40, her client who is a bald Jewish dry-cleaner, her two daughters, one of whom has a learning disability and is obsessed with ice dancing, and the other of whom has run away from home, her cleaning lady who is an obsessive compulsive, and the Chinese Elvis, who is actually from Vietnam and doesn't know very many of the songs yet.

I discovered one of the perils of living in a small town: seeing people you know in odd places. I was just about to go up to someone who I assumed was from choir or work - when I realised he was my GP.

Just finished reading: "Swallowing Grandma", by Kate Long. Quite similar to her previous ("The Bad Mother's Handbook") but also very good.

Today I am going to attempt to teach myself to crochet. I have never tried before, so if you hear muffled squeaks from inside a large tangle of wool, come and rescue me.

*The Spouse™ is looking over my shoulder and tells me that should be "an hilarious". He is more of a pedant than me so I will write that, even though it looks wrong to me.
