Dear Dad
My name is still Katie A. Not Katie D. No, I don't legally change my name on marriage by default. Your name is legally whatever you want to be known as. I could be legally known as Brigitte Bardot if I wanted. The fact that BOTH my email addresses use the surname A. might suggest that is the one I still use.

Dear people
My name is not Mrs. A. If I tell you it is Ms. A, that is because it is Ms. A. Ms. has a letter missing, notice how that works? I am not my mother. In particular, if you are addressing a bill to myself and The Spouse™, you might work out that addressing it to Mrs. A. and Mr. D. might be a little wrong. That would be my mother, living with her son-in-law.
Nor am I Miss A. Again, different to Ms.
And finally, if you manage to work out that I am Dr. A., then please note there is a standard abbreviation of that title. It is not necessary to spell it out. You do not write letters addressed to Mister Smith, nor to Missus Smith. No, people are not more likely to think that DR is a pair of initials than they are to think that MR or MRS or MS are sets of initials. Really, believe me. There are a very large number of people in the world who have the title Dr.

Thank you for your attention.
