Having been on holiday since Thursday night and having had four days of student-free work I am feeling wonderfully relaxed. My mum is staying and I haven't killed her yet (nor vice versa).
We had our Christmas service at church yesterday and it lived up to the usual fabulous standards.
We had a storytelling tent (we didn't tell stories in it but it was made for that) and a feast and stars and a video of a birth and great music and a piñata (where you bash a big box or papier maché figure until sweeties spill out - except we were bashing commercialism - and candles spilled out for us to light and say prayers!). And stuff. Lots of lights and candles and other stuff. I managed to have straw and tealights co-existing in the same space without a fire - the tea lights were in glasses and only 2 broke which was a pretty good achievement.
Today Christmas shopping and then a Christmas meal... remember not to eat too much at lunchtime because it looks like being a bit of a large meal tonight!
