Church this morning - we had a census asking how often we went (every week some months and not at all others - we reckon it averages to once a fortnight) and what race we were (they didn't need to bother asking us, they could just have looked at the congregation and written down 3 in the boxes other than white, because Maki is home in Japan this week), and whether we read the Bible at least once a week at home (well, I read it almost every day during Lent but haven't since Easter, so thought perhaps averaging was cheating there).
Hoovering in between - most of you will now have closed down your web browser in shock, or decided you are reading the wrong wiblog.
Walk this afternoon - went up to Carnforth which is the railway station where Brief Encounter was filmed. Had tea and scones in the Refreshment Room. Resisted the urge to take smuts out of each other's eyes...
Currently reading: Jack Rosenthal's autobiography, which is written in the form of a screenplay and which is excellent so far, and which was given to me as my first wedding anniversary present (paper...) by The Spouse. I gave him an origami kit. When we went for our pre-wedding counselling at the house of my former minister, who was conducting the wedding, the minister and his wife were trying to work out how to make doves for a service illustration/children's activity. The Spouse revealed a hitherto unknown (to me) talent for making origami birds. And frogs. He's just now making me something.... not sure what!
