Imagine this. There are two people, one on each side of a river. They need to be together. One of them needs to get over the other side. There is no bridge within walking distance. The river is about 3 metres wide, and around 1 metre deep, and the water is running reasonable fast. What is the best way to get across? Do you trust your legs and jump? Or do you go for a quick dip and wade/swim across? Or do you find a tree branch/wood to make a bridge with? Or does each person go their separate ways and find their own way home? I just don't know.
If the resources were available, I would be tempted to build some sort of a bridge. Because i've never been very good at jumping and if you didn't make it across you could get hurt. And the wading option doesn't look too welcoming either - you could get swept along with the currents, hypothermia is a risk or you could even end up drowning. If the people go their seperate ways, they could get lost (im an expert at that!) and it might take a long time to find a suitable way home. I suppose it would depend on whether they had a map each or not. No, I like the idea of building bridges.
What do you think?
