About 15 months ago, I had to move to Carmarthern for my 7 week placement. I had a room in the hospital, which the university paid for. To say it wasn't a particularly great time in my life, is an unstatement. I didn't know anyone in Carmarthern, except the people I had met on the ward. I had only been living in Swansea for 7 weeks before that, so didn't exactly know a lot of people there either. My room was small, plain and serverely lacking in furniture. But, I survived.

One of my 'survival mechanisms' was to brighten up my room. I didn't have very much stuff in Carmarthern, because I moved myself over there on a train. I took a few postcards and things to put up on my walls, from Swansea. I also began to create a spiritual collage on one of the walls there. It was good, because it would give me something to do, as well as giving the plain, magnolia walls some sort of focus. Every week whiles I was there I would buy The Big Issue, i would read it, and then cut out (using nail scissors - all I had!) letters, pictures, anything that caught my eye. I did this with many media items and basically anything that I could get my hands on. I used the resources i had, to create a collage which displayed many of my religious thoughts and reminders. At the end of the placement, I took the collage I had created off my wall and put it up back up in Swansea.

Since then, throughout various points in the past year or so, I have added to it. And now, each and every item in it holds a memory. Either of a particular event, a rough period in my life, or just a bible passage I thought was relevant. Below is a picture of the collage, as it stands at the moment - no doubt it will change in time. Apologises that many of the words and prayers are too small to read, i just wanted to share it with you.
