Rest? What does that mean?

People who have been around me when I'm not 100%, will know that I can be bad at this strange concept called 'rest'. I'm good at getting other people to have some rest when they're not well, for example at work, but when it comes to myself I can be pretty bad at it.

For example, on Saturday I fell down Pen y fan and twisted my leg. Since then it has been aching, but it hasn't swollen up and the pain isn't really bad. And on the day, I managed to walk 3 or 4 miles after it. So, today I just carried on as normal. I cycled to work, walked around work all day, then cycled to uni and walked round campus for a bit. On my bike this morning, I was going 'ow!' to myself every 3 seconds, and if I had to apply any extra pressure, it was worse. It ached for a while after the bike ride, but then seemed to cope ok with just walking around work. Cycling to uni wasn't quite as bad as this morning, but when I reached uni it was definately aching a lot more. And my leg wasn't too happy about having to walk around uni to get various forms and things.

Now then, I'm not a physiotherapist or anything, so I really don't know if its better to exercise it and get it stretching or to rest it for a few days? I could get the bus to work, but its a lot more hassle. I could give myself some ibuprofen before cycling and hope that it works. Hmm, i dunno. What do you think?
