I know where I am on my placement. For obvious reasons, I never say here where I am. But apparently, the long days there are fourteen and a half hour shifts. Last summer I worked twelve hour shifts, and just about coped. I was planning to work long days, but really don't know if I can do fourteen and a half hour shifts.
OK, thinking about this logically-
If I do the long days:
*I will be able to come back to Swansea much more frequently and for longer periods of time :)
*I will completely knacker my body, physically (and probably mentally as well) :(
*I won't be stuck in the middle of nowhere without anything to do for any length of time :)
If I do short days:
*I won't be able to come back to Swansea as much, or for as long :(
*I won't be as physically and mentally tired, from the work :)
*I may get bored when I'm not working :(
*I know that I can manage the boredom by exploring the area, doing acedemic work and phoning up Swansea friends :)
Hmm. I know which one I'm leaning towards at the moment, but I would appreciate opinions and comments, especially from people with experience of long shifts and people who know me personally.
