Grrr...mutter...mutter...
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for why some sessions with children go really well and others go really badly. Last weekend, I spent the whole time on Brownie Pack holiday, which was tiring, but a lot of fun. I'm not sure anyone got much sleep, and the number of kids I had in the first aid room with various bumps, scrapes and knocks was enormous. But all in all, they seemed to really enjoy themselves, and I got home exhausted but happy.
This morning was the complete opposite. I teach Sunday School once a month in a pretty traditional Anglican church, which pretty much comprises grandparents and grandchildren. The 20s-40s are represented by me and about 2 other people, one of whom is the curate! The children are always pretty hyperactive and hard to control, but I can generally get them interested enough to prevent too much chaos. I'm not sure what was up this morning though, and if you've never tried controlling 9 children aged 1 1/2 to 10, with the help of one (elderly) adult, you're very lucky. Even the nicest and best-behaved of them was determined to run riot this morning and whether they actually learnt anything is unlikely:(
Oh well, at least it's a month before I have to face that again.
