It's not what you know, it's who you know

Today I found a very useful bit on the ESRC website. Which I'd never have found (gah - haven't I moaned enough about that ****** incomprehensible website) if my supervisor hadn't dropped a really unsubtle hint about it in her email so I knew what to search for. This has the advantage of being the programme for which the Uni Department has also applied (and been shortlisted) for major funding (if they get it then my second supervisor will come from that programme) so if I can work it into my application then it will cover the requirements for "fit with ESRC aims/objectives" and "fit with Department priorities and ongoing research interests". Hooray. Feeling much happier about it now.

This application needs to be in next week. So I'll find something else to bang on about after then. But for now this blog is at least fulfilling its (sort of) aim to chronicle the highs, lows, tedious bits and rewards of mature studenthood. Quite a lot of it, I'm discovering, isn't that interesting to anyone other than me, so sorry about that. But tomorrow is my official London culture day for February, so I'll give you a break from boring applications and wow you with yet more revelations of London treasures :)
