Diary of a detox diet - day 1

This entry has just been deleted by mistake, so any good feelings towards Carol Vorderman and her detox diet are rapidly disappearing as I yell "nooooo" to nobody in particular. Will try and remember what I just posted (sigh).

So, I started the detoxing today. I'd (unsurprisingly) put on about 3lbs over the weekend of the Wightmeet (photos to follow), but at least I have something to detox from :)

I've made an executive decision not to have celery unless it appears in my random organic veg box, and to considerably adapt the diet, as the daily menu plans are fine if you're a lady who lunches and have nothing to do apart from prepare lots of fresh meals every day, but completely impractical if you're like me and have things like work and real life getting in the way. Anyway, here it is so far:

Breakfast: Wheat-free organic muesli (very nice) with rice milk (not as horrible as I was expecting, and I think I'll get used to it soon enough). Plus a banana.
Lunch: lots of raw things as crudites (tomatoes, cucumber, 3 types of pepper, carrot, grapes) dipped into mashed avocado. Lovely but I made too much so was stuffed. Followed by a fruit salad consisting of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Which was OK but would have been so much better with a big dollop of cream (sadly forbidden).
Dinner: Quinoa pilaf. Delicious. Quinoa (pronounced 'keen-wah' apparently, which I think sounds ever so poncey) is a protein-rich grain which is used as a substitute for rice or pasta. I'll be cooking a lot with it, it was lovely, and the house has a really nice smell now. Afters were the left over crudites from lunch.
Drinks: Still water (my usual drink anyway), rooibosch tea (likewise, and apparently full of antioxidants), and camomile tea (yeuch, tastes and smells like old socks).
Today's Exercise: gym.
Good thing about today: I wasn't hungry once.
Number of chocolate cravings: only 1, and it wasn't unbearable.
Side effect du jour: I've been weeing for England today. But apparently that's a good thing.

So, 1 down - only 27 days to go.
