I'm a huge fan of Rolf Harris, so am chuffed to bits that he has been chosen to paint the Queen's 80th birthday portrait. I've been looking at my garden and getting itchy fingers - if only the weather would hurry up and get better, because I want to get out there and do some drawing with my expensive pastels (that's an in-joke for fellow fabulous artiste holly, who frequents the same expensive art shops as me ;) ). Not that I'm anything like a good artist, but the odd bits I've done have been such fun and so relaxing, and I really want to have something more personal than photos to remember the garden by. I'm hoping to send some photos of my garden to a couple of friends who really are good artists (though they paint in very very different styles) so that they can do me a couple of larger paintings, but it will be nice for me to do something a bit more amateurish as well. Part of me would love Rolf to do a painting of the garden too (why oh why is Jim'll Fix It not on any more?) - how cool would that be?
