Mary very kindly posted the following on her blog ("A Raid on the Inarticulate" - see links to the left), and as she predicted it sums up beautifully where I'm at right now. I think it's lovely, and will be trying to get hold of the Northumbria Community liturgies (where this is adapted from) as soon as I can:

Lord, you have always given
bread for the coming day;
and though I am poor,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always given
strength for the coming day;
and though I am weak,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always given
peace for the coming day;
and though of anxious heart,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always kept me
safe in trials;
and now, tried as I am,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always marked
the road for the coming day;
and though it may be hidden,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always lightened
this darkness of mine;
and though the night is here,
today I believe.

Lord, you have always spoken
when time was ripe;
and though you may be silent now,
today I believe.

Amen!

In other news, I've thought of another 5 films that I want to add to my top 5. The only problem is I don't want to remove any of the top 5 from yesterday that I'd already thought of. So think of them as kind of equal 5ths (or something):

* Edward Scissorhands (beautiful, dark, tender, bleak, heartwarming - Tim Burton at his best)
* Il Postino (utterly gorgeous, and fabulous scenery)
* A Room With a View (same)
* Local Hero (funny, gentle, wonderful)
* Trading Places (still cracks me up even though I've seen it a million times. Apart from Shrek/Shrek 2 the only film I like with Eddie Murphy).
