Getting up is hard to do...

This morning was the end of an era - Danny Baker's last Breakfast Show on BBC London 94.9FM. I've always really enjoyed waking up to 94.9 (though I have to say I still mourn the passing of GLR and its morphing into BBC London), and the last few years I've regularly been crying with laughter even whilst blearily still waking up. I wonder who'll eventually take over - JoAnne Good (who I usually listen to as I go to sleep, I love her show too) will be doing the Breakfast Show in June apparently, and I'd be happy for her to take it over for good - but then I'd have the dilemma of having to get used to someone new for the 10pm-2am show. It's funny how you get used to, and attached to, the familiar even though these are people I'll never meet.

Oh well. Whoever gets the Breakfast Show, I won't be defecting to Today (Radio 4). I'd sooner wake up laughing than wanting to chuck the radio at the wall (my usual reaction by the time I get to the kitchen for breakfast, where I have Radio 4 on the kitchen radio) - I just can't cope with politicians at that time of the morning. By the time I get home from work I'm strong enough to be able to cope with PM while I'm preparing my tea, but in the morning I need amusing without being mindless and Danny fitted the bill perfectly.

I tell you what though. When I move UpNorth I'm going to have serious 94.9 withdrawal symptoms.
