Last night I had another curry. One of my favourite restaurants (south London's finest - Babur) is closing today for refurbishment and so I thought this may be the last time I can get a Babur curry before I leave London. Of course, as usual I ate *far* too much, and my friends also gave me rather a lot of Green and Blacks chocolate as a birthday present (which I polished off today, as I thought that the best way not to be tempted by it would be to eat it all as quickly as possible. Needless to say, I feel ever so slightly queasy now, though it was worth it!).
After the curry, we watched a couple of episodes of The Goodies which they had on video. Coincidentally, yesterday I had ordered the 2 new Goodies DVDs from Amazon - what better way to spend my birthday money? It's one of those shows which, even though really obviously from the 70s, and despite its occasional dubiously-politically-incorrect bits, is just as funny today as it was when it first came out, and works on lots of different levels, so both kids and adults can find it funny. We were all in tears, and after the huge curry it was really painful to be laughing so much. Even the opening credits had us clutching our bellies laughing. And it was great to see the appearance by Eddie Waring - now wasn't "Jeux Sans Frontieres" the best? Too bad they couldn't have got Stuart Hall for the episode as well.
I know this will confirm (to all who didn't already realise) that I really am officially Old, but I have to say this:
They really don't make TV like they used to, do they?
