More packing procrastination

I must say I no longer have the excuse that the boxes are in the loft so I can't pack them. They're out of the loft now, thanks to my friend S who very helpfully held the ladder for me. I only met one spider up there, and it was only little, so I really need to start getting my act together now.

However, I have managed to put it off so far. Yesterday afternoon I helped S pack her car with the remains of her garden shed so we could take it all to the dump. On arrival we found that the only day time that Lewisham dump is shut is Saturday afternoon. So we came back, after a scenic (cough) drive along the Old Kent Road. Today after church we went back to the dump to try again, only to find a humungous queue as they were "changing the bins". Quite why it hasn't occurred to the powers-that-be to do that on Saturday afternoon when it's shut and nobody's waiting to use it I really don't know, but anyway we gave up again. Very frustrating.

And then the rest of today I've been in the garden. My pots on the patio have been the least well maintained bit of the garden for some time, so I dug out all of my bulbs from the pots, separated them and replanted them, and put the pots in the shed so the squirrels can't get the bulbs. I also did a whole load of snail-squishing, which was very satisfying! I know it's only something relatively minor, but getting my pots sorted out ready for the move was one of those jobs that was looming over me like a black cloud. So I have a very definite sense of achievement now! To be honest I could do with a glass of wine now I've finished exerting myself, but sadly the detox has just over a week still to go. Still mineral water just isn't having the same effect.

I really must start packing. Just let me do the ironing first. Honestly, just because I don't have essays to write at the moment doesn't mean I don't need a regular fix of procrastination.

PS I also picked 9 blackberries this afternoon! OK, so that's not as impressive as the 2 carrier-bag-fulls I picked last year before the jungle was cut back, but it's a start :) They are now in the freezer pending the great wibsite flapjackathon.
