Trail of destruction

Not exactly packing activity, but it has given me just as much of a sense of achievement, and I get to be really destructive in the process - I've been putting it off for months, but I've spent a really satisfying afternoon going through all of my paperwork. I have kept remarkably little, and either recycled, chucked or shredded the rest. I love shredding, though I don't think my poor little shredder was designed for quite this amount of use! Much like chucking bottles into the bottle bank, I love shredding - a constructive way of being destructive!

In other news, tomorrow I start my bank nursing. I haven't done any district nursing for about 3 years, so whilst I'm quite looking forward to seeing some juicy leg ulcers, I'm also a bit nervous that I'll be all fingers and thumbs till I get used to doing big dressings again. Rather ridiculously I'm not allowed to give insulin shots (one of the mainstays of district nursing, along with leg ulcers) despite being a registered nurse, as the PCT policy states that I have to go on a training day to learn how to use the blood glucose testing machine (a simple machine which involves a simple 3-stage process, which takes all of about 30 seconds) (whereas I will be able to give IV drugs, which is arguably more complicated, simply by being first shown and then observed by one of the regular nurses). I understand their caution, but really do think they're being over-cautious in this case. Oh well. If I see anything particularly gruesome I'll of course share it with you in glorious technicolour :)
