... of my friend's social life to sneak onto the computer and say hello. I got back from Madrid yesterday, it was fantastic, and I'm very tanned (though I'm sure I'll start fading any time now). I also ate and drank far too much, went to the best art gallery in the world (Museo de Arte Reina Sofia, the modern art gallery that has Picasso's Guernica as the jewel in its crown), mooched, saw some incredible live flamenco, danced in a rubbish club, and saw a bizarre piece of street art constructed entirely from toilet paper. I took lots of pictures, but I'll have to get them up some other time, as the relevant software and all that sort of stuff is elsewhere. The severe delay to the return flight put the damper on things a bit (Madrid doesn't have the most happening airport) but despite that it was a fantastic break, and another place I'd like to go back to to explore a bit more. It's not the most impressive city architecturally, but the vibe was really laid back and relaxed and it felt like there was lots going on whatever your taste, if that makes sense.
And now it's my final few days in London before I head UpNorth (to Glasgow, for those who hadn't picked up on the exact destination yet). This feels really weird - like I'm really in limbo. I've said so many goodbyes, but I'm still here! Not for much longer though (eek) - I leave this Saturday coming (planning to arrive a few days later - I'm taking advantage of driving most of the length of the country to visit a few family and friends on the way). I am excited about my new life - but also freaking a little bit too.
I did another couple of drawings this evening too - again it'll take forever for me to put any art onto the blog due to lack of scanner, but anyway I was pleased with the result. Like the last ones I put up here, I did two of the same thing (my friend's garden) so I could keep one and give the other as a present; though I say so myself it looks rather good framed. But don't worry - I'm not getting any delusions of talent just yet :)
